Volleyball Albury Wodonga was proudly represented by four teams at the 2025 Shepparton Revival Volleyball Tournament, held across the weekend of 1–2 March — and what a weekend it was.
With teams competing in both Division 1 and 2, our players brought home gold and silver medals, MVP awards, and above all, showed remarkable sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the tournament.
Women’s Division 1 – Gold Medalists
Our Women’s Representative Team, coached by Gary, were outstanding across the weekend. Despite a reduced roster of four senior and three junior players, they showed grit, talent, and determination to take out the Division 1 title.
After finishing second in their pool with 3 wins and 2 losses, they came face-to-face with Tie One On in the grand final — a rematch from earlier that morning. With the match going to three sets and the tournament using timed finals, the team held their nerve. At the final buzzer, they were three points up (17–14) — crowning them champions.
Every player stepped up. Tish and Mary, in their first tournament, delivered fantastic performances. Amara and Lara adapted to new positions with resilience. Abby delivered a libero masterclass. Leslie provided court coverage and offensive setups, and Beth — who earned the tournament MVP — lifted the team with her court presence and consistency. Coach’s awards went to Leslie, Mary, and Abby — but Gary noted that if he’d had seven gifts, he would have given one to each player.

Men’s Division 2 – Silver Medalists
Our Men’s Representative Team — Zac, Liam, Tyler, Lachy, Harrison, Michael, Danilo, Caelan, and Czyren-Lee— delivered one of the most exciting performances of the weekend.
They dominated their pool with four straight wins, cruised through the semi-final 3–0, and entered the grand final against Rebel Brothers with momentum. After winning the first set and narrowly dropping the second, the match came down to the clock. At the final buzzer, the team trailed by four (18–14), settling for silver.
Still, it was a performance to be proud of. Their tactical play, court chemistry, and leadership were praised by all — and Harrison, who delivered an all-round standout performance, was awarded MVP.
This team continues to thrive despite being self-led without a coach, showing what’s possible with shared leadership and a deep understanding of the game.

Mud Kings – Division 1 Silver
The Mud Kings, featuring several local players, competed in a tough and high-level Division 1. The division showcased some of the tournament’s most exciting volleyball, and the Mud Kings were right in the mix, ultimately securing silver medals after a strong campaign. Their matches were a spectacle, and the team played with cohesion, confidence, and class.
Spikerz – One to Watch
Team Spikerz, made up of a younger cohort, were a highlight of the tournament. With a great blend of youthful talent and emerging leadership, they played with energy and maturity beyond their years. Their growth was evident in every match, and they’re shaping up as a team to watch in future tournaments.
Thank You & Final Reflections
A massive thank you to all our players across the four teams for representing Volleyball Albury Wodonga so proudly — both on and off the court. Special thanks to the parents, partners, family members, and friends who cheered from the sidelines, and a special shoutout to Bus Driver Dan for being a dependable support throughout the trip.
Thank you also to Goulburn Valley Volleyball Association, the tournament committee, Sharon and members, Tournament Director Max, and Referee Adviser Aleks — your efforts made for an outstanding event and a strong start to GVVA’s revival as a key force in regional volleyball.
To all players, supporters, and organisers: well done. You’ve made our club proud.
